With just 1 more day ending the month of May, my monthly girls get together was cutting it close. We originally had dinner plans for the 24th but my 5k ended up being that day, so we rescheduled for the 30th.

We decided on KAVA.  I love this place ! The food is delicious and you get a lovely variety, from salads to sandwiches to pastas to oven baked pizza ! Yum ! We couldn't have chosen a better spot this month. We started with drinks. I had my usual Extra Dirty Maritni, Melanie had a Mojito and Adelina had a mudslide.

After dinner we decided to go for Ice Cream, but first made a stop at the Carousel Park, which by-the-way last time was closed. So of course, we had to get our childhood pants on !
It was the fastest 3 minutes ever and was also the last ride for the night. hehe :)

And one of us on our chosen rides :)

After we headed to Mc Donalds (I know, of all places !) for Ice cream and a nice last chat before parting.
Next month's date is already set as it is Melanie's birthday month. Oh the celebrations await !

With craving a getaway, I was asked by a friend Tami to accompany her to Tobago for the day on Tuesday as she wanted to learn to surf, without hesitation I said yes and booked my ticket that night.

Tuesday came quickly and although I was still a little unwell, I needed the change in scenery.

As we arrived, we waited for Rituals to open so we can have some breakfast before heading to the beach. I have never eaten breakfast at Rituals before so it was a first, and although the food needed a little more flavour, it wasn't bad.

As we walked down to the beach we were greeted by a barefoot guy who introduced himself as Anthony but to call him 'Condensed milk'. When I asked how did he get such an interesting name, he said "sweet". I responded "Sweet like condensed milk?" He said "My service is sweet". 'Condensed Milk'  has been renting out chairs on the beach for the past 15 years (if I remember correctly) and we were his next 2 customers. He set us up right in the front and allowed us to keep our spot all day even though we had to leave and come back.

After spending 3 hours at Store Bay, Tami and I waited for her surf instructor to pick us up to take us over to Mt Irvin where he would teach her to surf. The beach on that side didn't allow swimming so I chilled on the sand taking pictures of Tami's lessons while I made friends with the beach dog. lol

Later on, we were dropped back to Store Bay where we spent the last hour of our day on the sand and in the ocean, just before sunset.

Even though the day went by fast, the little time by the ocean was much needed. I can't wait to go back in the summertime.

June is around the corner and that brings on new challenges ! I am doing the Rewild Your Life challenge as well as a few yoga challenges. So June would be quite the month. :)

I think admitting is the first step, so I shall do that. I have been absolutely absent from my blog all week, and I wish I had a proper excuse, but I don't.

The week was a very brief one, with my spirits both up and down, I was craving a getaway. I wanted to switch off my phone and just go... disconnect from the social network, from work, from life. I think I just need a different air to breathe for a bit or a reset button.

With having a roller-coaster of emotions, the flu decided to take advantage and kicked me down once more, so I took a day during the week, left work early, came home, put on my pjs, Desperate Housewives on Netflix and crawled into bed for the remaining of the day and by morning, I was well again, although my little angel wasn't.
I met up with a friend for dinner and drinks one of the nights. It was at a new French restaurant we have been to before, although then it was mainly for drinks....this time it was for our palettes.

Rendez vous Restaurant and Wine Bar  is this delightful new chic restaurant that just opened in Fiesta Plaza, Movie Towne. Now, I only love to rave about Restaurants that really leave a great impression. Considering this was my 2nd time, it is only fair I do squeal of how lovely here was !  The first night I had a Dirty Martini... extra dirty. I do love my martini's, and the bartender did it to perfection. The service is unbelievable ! From the warmth faces that greet you, to the courtesy and the interest in asking how is everything, perfect perfect perfect. I truly give this restaurant a 5 star rating ! :)
The other time was no different, the service remained wonderful ! This time I had a French Martini. Oh my word ! What a drink!!! And for dinner I wanted something light, so I decided on a baby spinach salad which was truly delicious from the first bite to the last.
Saturday I had another 5k and I would be absolutely honest with you all, prior to going, I was in such a mood I didn't even want to go. From not training all week, to working that day til 3pm, I was just ready to take a break but you know what, I went and even though at the beginning my cousin and I decided we would just walk it, we got into the beginning of the "running of the bulls" stampede. lol Not sure how else to describe it and somehow we just kept running. My knee started to give out again but it wasn't as bad as the last 5k, and I just kept going. When I reached the end I felt really great and to myself, that was my best run yet ! *proud moment*
Today whilst everyone sat at their work desks, I went touring at the House of Angostura with my cousin Ashley, her parents and a friend of hers who is visiting. I think the last time I went Angostura it looked NOTHING like it does now. The rooms are different, the museum was different....heck, I don't even remember getting to see the label and bottling area. So this was really a nice break from the usual Monday routine. After we went to Fort George for a while and enjoyed the beautiful view.
And now, it is time for bed ! I have another early morning tomorrow as a new adventure awaits. :)
Stay tuned.

After nursing a hangover for the majority of Sunday morning [ Wedding drinks lol]  I joined both my sisters and my nieces & nephew to a National Day of Caring event in a nearby park. The event was basically to educate children about disabled kids, whether they are blind, deaf, can't walk, etc. Even though the event was only 2 hours, there was a bouncy castle, face painting and a puppet show for the kids to enjoy. I however found another source of enjoyment. :)

Bleeeaaaaakkssssdddderrr  ** :(    The look on my face is absolute exhaustion !!! I have finally reached home after 8 hours of formal dress hunting, and guess what .... still empty handed. I did however grab 2 colourful leggings for yoga, a top and a pair of earrings. Yep, way to get side tracked !

My head is pounding, but I didn't want to miss another blog post.

On Monday, I went to an annual Mother's Day Luncheon with my Mum. I loved the theme this year, very hollywood oriented. The tables decked with popcorn and film roll center pieces, and the stage with a screen at the back playing 'Evolution of Dance in film' which I was completely intrigued by, so I have attached it below, so you can enjoy it too ! :)

Brace yourself !..... this is a picture post update :) YAYYYYY hehe

There was an awesome dress up photo booth, so of course this took place....
Isn't she cute !! Hope you had a fun filled Mothers Day ♥♥
And of course, what is an event if you don't take a mirror selfie ?? hehe
On the 24th another 5k is happening so I couldn't wait to sign up !
This time, I am making sure I have music on my ipod and my knee brace on ! :)
Taking a drive through town yesterday and there was ONE stretch of wire with a gazillion pigeons perched on it
....... def a photo moment.

Today being Mothers Day reminded me of days like Father's Day & Valentine's Day ... this one day a year celebration is kind of ridiculous, but at the same time it keeps people on their feet - as a remembrance to the importance of the people in your life. So, perhaps in a strange way, it works. :)

My relationship with my Mom is really something I cherish. Throughout the years she has became my confidant and adviser and now my best friend, and that is probably the greatest gift I can ever ask for. I love you Mom ♥ ♥

As any Sunday, we spent it as a family. We headed across by my eldest sister, while my brother in-laws sweated over the grill, the ladies lounged about while the kids painted and played with the puppies. It was a rather quiet day, but you know, sometimes it is nice that way.  :)

We figured out today my 9 year old niece has better handwriting than I do. Sadly, it is true. I think I need to work on that.

My niece wrote this today
I must apologize for all these shitty updates. I have been having terrible writers block all week, and I am hoping it passes quickly ! It is getting annoying. :(

"Sometimes I have loved the peacefulness of an ordinary Sunday. It is like standing in a newly planted garden after a warm rain. You can feel the silent and invisible life."
~ Marilynne Robinson

Since I could remember, Sundays were always fundays for myself. If it wasn't spent by the ocean with family, it was either in the company of a loved one, with friends, or adventuring off on my own. Of course, there are those Sundays that you are allowed to be completely slumped in a lazy mode, spending all day under covers in PJs watching movies. :)

Today was a little different for myself. After lazing around for most of the morning, I decided to go to A Jewellery Exhibition with my cousins in the evening.

The Artists were :
Jasmine Thomas - Girvan
Rachel Ross
Sarah May Marshall Knight
Janice Derrick
Jade Drakes
Micha Gomes
and the Pocket Clocks by Peter Sheppard

Oh the pieces were so different, so unique,  I loved nearly all of them although some pieces didn't seem very practical (in my honest opinion) but art is art. hehehe  I did however *love* the pocket clocks !! love love love. Also I have added links to the artist names above to direct you to their work. :)
Ah, I took so many photographs but the glare was truly a task to try to get away from, but I think I did pretty good. hehehe

Hello Hello :)  *waves*

Is it only Thursday? haha, what am I saying ! THANK GOD IT'S THURSDAY & also the first day of MAY. yayyyyyy  ! I have always *loved* May, not sure why, but it always begins with my niece birthday, then rolls into Mothers' Day, just when I think of May, I think about yellow flowers and green parks. So strange. lol

"As full of spirit as the month of May, and as gorgeous as the sun in Midsummer."
~ William Shakespeare
Do people think it is weird going to a cafe or restaurant and seeing ONE person sitting down by themselves having a meal ?

I use to look and wonder, but then I found myself doing the same. And for me, it really is just time with myself. Like a good few times I have gone to the movies alone, bought popcorn and a drink and cotton candy and enjoyed a movie by myself - I always said that was MY TIME. I loved it ! :)

So earlier this week I went to Urban Oasis Café and had a Black Bean Burger & Fries. It was an ultimate cheat day for me, but sometimes you just gotta have what the tummy wants. :)

That same night I joined my close friends for Anthony's birthday celebration at Buzo Osteria Italiana - ooo I love their food and the ambiance, so I was excited to get dressed & head out with the gang for drinks and laughs and some good ole fun - oh and yummy food !!!
At the end of my meal my entire place-mat had oil & water stains on it - not because I am a messy eater (which, I really am not) but they choose to give me a huge salad in the smallest bowl they had. :(

Let's just throw in a sunrise picture here for no reason ..... :)

BAM !

Again thanks to Facebook, we tend to find out interesting things, like this week I found out Peter Griffin (Family Guy) has an Instagram !

YES, AN INSTAGRAM !

I know what you are saying - so many "cartoons" or "fake show celebs" have one, but this is really interesting, because not only are the hashtags funny, but it sounds JUST like Peter himself. You must check it out & follow [click the photo] ! I didn't waste anytime. haha

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THIS ANGEL

MY NIECE

What's your favourite things about May ?  :)
